The Sound of Music / Hallstatt tour was the perfect tour for us at an unbeatable price, the right amount of touring and detail about The Sound of Music sites, the history, updates, etc - coupled with a fabulous visit to Hallstat, with such gorgeous scenery!

Bruno, our guide, was engaging and well-informed, a local with deep knowledge of the area. The vehicle was clean and well maintained, and Bruno was super punctual (including the hotel pickup!). He was a skilled and careful driver, great communicator, and was thoughtful in his suggestions for the tour and for our time in Hallstatt.

Eva was wonderful! We only had 6 people on our tour which meant we had a really great environment to ask questions, chat, and can go where a lot of the other large tour groups can’t. We went into the Austrian mountains & countryside, doing a full loop through the lake areas — gorgeous! Would book with this company again in heartbeat! We saw the Sound of Music filming locations but also learned a lot about the history of Salzburg. Great tour!

Jonathan was our guide for the Sound of Music and Hallstat tour. We went in early January of 2024 and had a great time. Jonathan was extremely knowledgeable and was a wonderful guide. The tour takes you all around to show you many places that are related to the Sound of Music while also pointing out other noticeable sites along the way. Many of the sites you just see from the van, and a few you stop and get out or take a look. There is a good bit of driving to and from Hallstat, but the time goes by quickly. Several hours to explore Hallstat on your own.

I really enjoyed this tour, especially that it was in a small group, in a van and not in a large bus with 50+ people.

We had the most wonderful day on The Sound of Music/Hallstatt tour with our excellent guide Eva today. My mother and I both loved the tour. It was a small group which meant we could ask plenty questions and ensured that we had the best trip possible. I would definitely book with Bob’s Special Tours again and would highly recommend them to anyone travelling to Salzburg.

We did the Sound of Music tour which should be a must for any fan. I definitely prefer smaller tours - it's much easier to take photos, there's no waiting around for stragglers, and you're not stuck so tightly to a schedule.

The tour was great. It not only focused on the Sound of Music but our wonderful guide Eva also talked about the history of Salzburg. Being in a small group was also nice, less waiting to get on and off like on yhe big coach busses. We were also able to go up in the mountains with amazing views and passed through many charming towns.

I genuinely do not where to begin, first off the lady we had did not talk about the sound of music tour, it was a history lesson of Salzburg. She would get upset if we did not know the answers to the questions “we” didn’t hear or know. She did not get us close to anything we wanted to see such as the house, abbey, or the hills. This is a lot of money for such a poor tour. I wish we could get a refund but the best I can do is say go elsewhere for future clients.

Hans the tour guide spends little time speaking about the Sound of Music and when he does it is with disdain and zero enthusiasm. Half way through the tour I asked him how often he does Sound of Music tours and he said, not often as he thinks the Sound of Music is for people who didn't finish high school. (Thanks Hans).

We did see a few sites, though it was generally with little information and more of a "here you go, this is from the movie. ok now lets go to the next one." Hans' true passion is history/modern political commentary.

I spoke directly with Bob's Special Tours about how poor a guide Hans is and was told "oh I have received a lot of complains about Hans, but what am I to do, its hard to find guides." I informed them that I would much rather have been disappointed that there were no tours than to pay 63 Euro/person (with cash discount) to attend a rotten tour. I truly hope Bob's realizes that he is a liability and takes him off the tour rotation as he will be their downfall in the long run.
