Great place for fall getaway (as well as summer with pool and hot tub) lots of space outside to relax for mingling or private conversation. Breakfasts are thoughtfully prepared and Yummy.
My room was very clean, spacious with lots or sitting space and period correct furnishings . The bed was very comfortable with fine hotel quality mattress. The owner has a wealth of knowledge on this historic property and graciously shared its history and renovations. While it’s a very short distance to town you don’t have the road or tourist noise that the town could have. Other rarely found amenities include bicycles for guests use.

This is a charming B&B. Lots of character - the online pictures make it look so enticing and relaxing. But, the pictures are deceiving this B&B is far from what the online pictures look like. The front entry is guests first impression - this front porch had boxes on it, some kind of repair items strewn across it and cobwebs. Once entering, the front room was unkempt and messy and immediately you noticed the musty smell.

When meeting the owner he did allow us to check in early. We arrived early and wanted to pick up our boat tickets so we could do that first and then we planned to check in. He did not introduce himself or show us around.

The pool area was a huge disappointment. Certainly not like the pictures. Paint cans and brushes on the covered porch, gardening table full of “ stuff” and a pile of cushions on a bench. The umbrellas were leaning up against an arbor. No cushions on the lounge chairs. A little girl came out and said there were cushions in this little house and did we went some. She pulled some out and they smelled so bad!

We chose room upstairs with French doors overlooking the garden and pool, the windows were very dirty. Our room at first smelled like bleach and after that wore off it just smelled musty. I had to buy a diffuser to help alleviate the smell.

The downstairs common area was unkempt and not clean. Boxes on the floor, empty cleaning bottle on the desk, chipped coffee mugs out for breakfast.

I would not recommend this B&B in its current condition. We were sadly disappointed.

Positives: close to town, bikes for use, beautiful historic home, quiet area and charming, beautiful gardens and property, well made food, large rooms, comfortable beds, pet friendly, Will is friendly and welcoming.

Negatives: rotated the same 2 breakfasts for 4 days, complete lack of privacy. The owner had many visitors over who were not paid guests. These visitors consisted mostly of children and some adults who completely took over the pool. Instead of a day by the pool just the 2 of us (because we were the only paying guests) we were surrounded by children and friends/family members of Will’s. We were stuck in our room unless we wanted to share the pool (which we paid to use) with his family and friends. The pool was also dirty and when we asked for it to be cleaned it was barely skimmed. The patio area with the bar and fridge was covered with ants. There are no mini fridges in the rooms and Will was not happy when we tried to put our own drinks in the only cooler available to us. The jacuzzi tub in our room had dirt on the bottom, the house was very messy, especially the kitchen area which is very visible to guests. As guests who paid and expected to have full use of all amenities it was very frustrating to have to share with such a large crowd of unpaid visitors. No one seemed concerned if we wanted to relax by the pool without screaming and splashing, or asked if we wanted to use the pool. Friends who stayed in another room found dirty kids clothing in their room. Also no cleaning services were offered so no change of towels or trash can emptied for 4 days. It could be a wonderful place if it was taken care of better and he didn’t use it as a playground for the local kids.

We’ve stayed at the George Brooks House on many occasions over the years and it’s always proved to be an exceptionable experience that brings us back time after time. With a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, you will be surrounded by beautiful gardens, a pool, and extraordinary hospitality. This beautiful historic Inn is a short distance from downtown St. Micheals with its rich history, restaurants, breweries, and Chesapeake Bay adventures. The Innkeeper, Will Workman has extensive knowledge of the area and is an excellent storyteller. Ask him to tell you the story of the inn at breakfast! Our stays have without a doubt created many memories.

This is a beautiful historic home in a private setting with lovely landscaping, pool and Jacuzzi. Our family was very comfortable here with the freedom to go all over the house and estate.|The breakfasts were gourmet quality, served in an elegant dinning atmosphere, very relaxing.|The history of this home was fascinating with a photo album showing the amazing architectural improvements. The attention to vintage detail was wonderful.|The owner Mr.Will Workman took extra time to guarantee you have a pleasant stay. His quality chef skills were appreciated. The well stocked refreshments were greatly appreciated.|We look forward to staying there again.

We love this place. Opting this year upon our return to stay a full week. With Will, the Inn Keeper at Helm, you can't go wrong. While we were there the hottest week of the year, not only did the staff go above and beyond to make sure the coolers were fully stocked with water and sodas, the Inn Keeper went out and bought ever room it's own Window Unit AC to make sure we were more than comfortable!! From the bicycles that are provided for your use, to the amazing pool, and ever changing fabulous breakfast. We love this place!

My husband and I stay at the George Brooks house anytime we’re in St. Michaels. This recent visit marks our 7th time. We also did a fall trip with friends, which worked out great. Here are a few reasons why we love to stay here. Will/owner & innkeeper is welcoming and friendly. The place is clean and has a laid back, quiet atmosphere. Free EV chargers which allow us to charge our Tesla overnight for our return trip home. A warm/home made breakfast every morning; our hands down favorite is Will’s Quiche Lorraine (I even convinced him to share the recipe)!! The pool is a great place to relax and there’s an ice machine and refrigerator stocked with waters and soft drinks just a feet away. It’s located near great restaurants. We would heartily recommend staying here.

Was perfect . The story behind the house is just incredible ! Will the host was great. Breakfast each day was yummy. The best part of the place is their pool and hot tub which we used everyday ! Would def recommend to anyone . Was slightly out of town but wasn’t a big deal to drive into town .
