Having gone through a traditional Tae Kwon Do training in a strict and competitive program to get my black belt as a child, I was selective on where to take my children for their training. Master Im’s academy is a great choice for this area because he has the traditional experience and has been teaching for decades. He not only incorporates basic physical coordination for the kids, but also promotes discipline and respect in the dojang, school, and home while making it fun and enjoyable for them. He and Ms. Diane provide a very supportive environment. The confidence my kids have developed here in such a short amount of time has been awesome; they went from being very shy and crying to smashing boards and loving it.

Best Taekwondo in Bakersfield California. I enrolled my two boys in January 2022 and they LOVE it. They learn from Grand Master Y.J.Im korean words, numbers, their name in korean, moves, techniques, discipline, honor, respect and courage. They receive award certificates, trophies, and higher rank colored belts on test day and ceremonies.Great safe place for kids I highly recommend. Beneficial for your kids future. I have been going to this school for over 6 years. Throughout these 6 years, I have gained a lot of knowledge about Tae Kwon Do. The teacher will personally show you how to do actions such as kicking and self-defense techniques. He also promotes a proper responsibility skills as he has those with higher ranking teach those of a lower ranking. This school is the place you want to go if you or your child wants to learn more about this martial art.

My kids were so excited to come by and see the class. They could not wait to get in the car and drive to this studio. Sadly when approached by the owner or instructor, she informed us that we could not review the class unless we signed the kids up. As a parent I would want to make sure the place is safe and appropriate for my kids. Additionally we want to and if they like what they see before investing in this activity. The owner or instructor appeared to only be interested in our money and not teaching the martial art of Tae Kwon Do. The kids were pretty disappointed as they were very much looking forward to this evening. Selfishly speaking I was pretty excited about them experiencing it. We look forward to finding a studio who care about their students as much as their business.

This is by far the best martial arts experience I’ve had. I started taekwondo 4 months ago with my husband and two children. Our goal was to build some foundational skills, discipline and family bonding with them. Not only have we accomplished that but it has been an educational experience. The environment is friendly while still being very structured. Grand Master Im is highly skilled and versed in teaching all ages and does not hold anyone back. It’s wonderful meeting all of the other parents and children. There are many personal opportunities to guide and to be guided by the younger generations, as well. I feel honored to be involved in these classes and to be taught by someone who has such a prestigious history, as Grand Master Im. Would highly recommend to anyone.

If you are serious about finding the Best Tae Kwon Do Dojang in Bakersfield this is the place. Having been a TKD student myself and being born in Korea I wanted my 5 year old daughter to receive the Traditonal Teachings of this Art that meant so much to me growing up. Immediately after enrolling her I realized how lucky we were to have found Master YJ IM, he teaches every class 6 days a week and truly brings out the best in every student. He is an extremely dedicated instructor and its amazing to watch the new students come in and learn new skills and watch their confidence grow and behaviors improve with every class and belt promotion. I have seen improvements with our daughters confidence, manners, patience, school work, and overall behaviors in every way. Often she does double classes and asks for more as well. Our entire family couldn't be happier and prouder of how her Tae Kwon Do School Experience is evolving. We Love you Master IM and are so grateful for what you do for our daughter and all of your other TKD Students. Thank You Sir!!!!!!

If there were a Tae Kwon Do Academy I would recommend to any of my friends or family, it would be this one. There is a positive atmosphere and greeting as soon as you walk in the door. This academy has very productive ways of teaching discipline and control, which is a benefit for everyone. They are quick and efficient from managing to teaching. It is affordable for the amount of useful knowledge the instructors teach. Saying that the people who teach at the academy are qualified is a gross understatement. The manager is incredibly nice and cooperative (along with the scheduling and times of the academy). It has definitely been one of, if not, the best customer service I have ever had. The amount of experience that the grandmaster has had is stunning, he has taught martial arts for over 39 years. The grandmaster is a 9th degree black belt, which shows dedication and a whole lot of skill. After winning multiple National/World Championships, his practiced skill is clearly shown in the classes he teaches. The overall experience of the academy induces positivity, productivity, and discipline in all students that attend it. This Academy is the only one in Bakersfield that is officially part of the World TaeKwonDo Federation, which is why if there were any Tae Kwon Do Academy to go to, it would 100% be this one.
